[25.1.2023] Prorector Stefan Rumann: Examination phase in the winter semester

Video message – summary

The video (German only):

For students

Why are there no free attempts?

In the Corona epidemic, the rectorates had the legal basis with the Epidemic University Ordinance to introduce a free attempt regulation. Unfortunately, this possibility does not exist now.

The free attempts that are in the framework examination regulations also have a different legal context. Here, individual faculties have the possibility to introduce free attempts. In some cases, this has already been done. However, it is not possible to implement them across the board in such a short time.

How can the examination phase work?

We give you the option of not having to deregister for the individual exams. You can decide until shortly before the exam whether you want to take part or not. An examination that you have registered for but not cancelled is not detrimental to you. The examination is considered not to have been taken. This means that you can decide right up to the last moment whether you feel fit enough to take your exam.

However, if you already know that you will not be taking the exam, we would ask you to deregister early with your examiners.

For teaching staff

1. The AStA reported that not all teachers are always available. Dear teachers, please allow for a functioning communication possibility in order to ensure a good exam period.

2. Please set your exams with a sense of proportion – and very much take into account the difficult situation of students.

3. If you are planning an online examination: unfortunately, the „LPLUS“ system is not available. Please switch to another platform (Moodle or JACK) and inform both ZIM and the Examinations Office. Or – and you should also inform the Examinations Office – conduct the examinations in the same way.

I wish all students and teachers a successful examination period.
